be seventeen and other misses

Okay remember back in the early 70's when the beautiful Chrystal Gale sang be seventeen. I really thought the name of the song that the "Button Pushin Cowboy" played was titled Be seventeen. It was just today at the age of 48 that I realized that was the selection on the Juke Box.
Also that joke was is black and white and red all over? I thought the correct rendering was red all over, Never got it till my 30's, Read all over.

And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.

And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.

Some are saying that a vote yes on Prop 8 is taking away something that belongs to people and putting it under Religion or Gods rules. What many do not understand is that Marriage does belong to God. Caesars image was stamped onto the Roman coins of that day, marriage has Gods image stamped on it. God invented it and it is a picture(albeit a broken picture) of His relationship with His bride the Church. Government took something that belongs to God, and in an attempt to enhance marriage, gave it a certain tax status and protection. This in reality may have hurt marriage. Marriage is a religious ceremony. It is the joining of a man and woman, physically and spiritually. We, as believers, have allowed the laws of the land to govern our marriages and abused the holiness of marriage by taking our vows lightly and divorcing far too often for selfish reasons. No wonder the general public does not view marriage as a Spiritual union. We have not treated it as such. So instead of Government owning marriage...we the believers need to take back ownership of our marriages and treat them with the holiness we are fighting for . We need to give unto God what is His and that is our marriages. So in conclusion, being that marriage is Gods and He sets up the rules regarding them, there can be no union between any other than one man and one woman. But in preaching this let us remember that Gods other rules apply also;The man should love his wife the way Christ loves the church, the woman should honor her husband as the Head of the marriage, children should obey their parents. I will attempt to add to this as I study it more, I just wanted to write it down as the Lord was revealing to me these simple facts. Yes, we are claiming Marriage as Gods because it is Gods and if the government decides then that marriage should no longer get tax breaks because that is mixing religion with Government so be it. You can not take God out of a Marriage because whether or not you are a believer does not change the fact that marriage is the joining of two into one physically and spiritually as well. So all this talk that a marriage taking place in a court house in front of a judge is not infringing on the Marriage we believers believe in, holds no water. God is everywhere,he is in that courthouse whether believers are present or not and that marriage is spiritual, whether the bride and groom are or are not. God can not be taken out of the marriage ceremony. So a joining of a man and man or woman and woman is not the definition of marriage. Not because I said so but because the one who invented marriage says so. So Church maybe it is time for us to give Caesars what is his,pay taxes, and take back what is Gods',marriage. Let no man put asunder.

Why I love Blythe

Have you ever been to Blythe California?
It is an awesome place!
Now the fact that it is awesome is often overlooked because of its seering 115 degree sometimes more summer temps.
In my opinion the temps just keep out the rip rap . My definition of rip rap has nothing to do with wealth, fame or looks, it is the character that determines ones ripness or rapness.
Here are some of the reasons Blythe is great:
Parking...not so much on the main drag but truly about anywhere else in Blythe you want and it is free. The only time you get charged is at the fairgrounds for various events.

Traffic... often non existent

Post office... I was just in there and out in about 3 minutes and am always helped by the nicest postal workers. True! And whilst I was in there I could here a Rooster growing and I queried where that was coming from and apparently someones mail order show 4-H chickens had come in. Now where else?

DMV...in and out in a minimal amount of time. Sometimes the attendants there are a little cranky but what the hey small price to pay and I just refer to them as "characters".

Bank...they know be by name and know my kids too, in and out in minutes.

Mexican food...the best

People...interesting,caring, generous, some may be on the witness protection plan , you never know.

The River... its hot but the river is cool.

"God Particle"

I have been reading with interest about the huge particle collider that has been built underneath the Alps. It appears that they hope to collide protons at such a speed that they can recreate the atmosphere that occurred immediately after "The big bang" which they theorize was the beginning of the universe. Many are fearful that tiny "black holes" may be a byproduct and at some point these black holes will suck the earth into them and thus the end of the world. All this is fascinating but the really cool part is this search for the ingredient that has remained elusive from scientist.The glue which a believing(I would imagine a believer) scientist accurately named,"The God Particle" this is the stuff they can't figure out. The glue that holds everything together. They even wrote a little rap song which addresses this question, here is a bit of it;
"But even all that matter can not explain “What holds all these stars together something else remains.”
I feel like a first grader or Horshack on, Welcome Back Kotter; OOooooohhhhh I know, I know , even I know the answer to this one, The answer is Jesus! Colossians 1:17 states,"And He is before all things and in Him all things consist." Other versions state,"In Him all things are held together."
Stephen Hawking, a great scientist and a seemingly non believer;certainly one who does not believe God is active in this universe anymore,in any way, bets they will not find the "God Particle". I do not know if the Lord will give man the knowledge to identify the "God Particle" existing in protons, but I know He promises if we seek Him, we will find Him. So my prayer to all is, that we seek Him. We do not need a multi-million dollar matter collider to do this; just come as you are...seeking Him and He promises you will find Him. Whole and Holy, Jesus Christ. The One who holds everything together. Just do it Mr. Hawking, you matter to Him. He is waiting for you and He loves you. The whole rest of the world too.
I love it when science and God collide.
"All things were made through Him and without Him nothing was made that was made."

How to conserve?

In the tone of Jerry Seinfeld...
What is with the toothpaste tubes now days?
The current design prevents the tube from attaining complete roll power thus preventing the ability to squeeze the last drop out. So America lets start here; if a tire gauge can be used as a symbol of conservation I would like to add a tube of toothpaste to the catalog. As consumers we should all write our toothpaste company of choice and fight,since we can no longer fight with our spouse the old "to roll or not to roll" argument.
Point 2
Why is it when you go to print something off the computer it takes one 8x11 (or whatever the classic paper size is) and then one little line on a second sheet of paper? If this is not a conspiracy to use more paper I do not know what is! It seems the programmers should be able to squeeze that one line (sometimes just a few words) onto one piece of paper. This one solution could save lots of trees, fuel, and headaches.
Just thinking,
S.A.A.A.

What's your take?

The following is an excerpt from A Political Odyssey: The Rise of American Militarism and One Man's Fight to Stop It. Sen. Mike Gravel will join me for a reading and discussion at the Barnes and Nobles at 82nd Street and Broadway in Manhattan on Wed. evening, Jul 9, at 7 pm:

From a human viewpoint, the invasion of Iraq has been an unmitigated disaster. It has caused regional instability for the foreseeable future. But seen from Bush's White House, the war has been "won" and victory is being consolidated. Bush meant it when he said "Mission Accomplished." He had four main objectives in invading Iraq. They have all been met. That more than a million innocent civilians have been killed or driven from their homes is [for him] beside the point. The fulfilled objectives are:

· Depose the no longer useful Saddam Hussein and install puppets--DONE.

· Take the oil out of the hands of a renegade Arab leader. Get sweetheart deals for American and allied oil companies--NEARLY DONE.

· Make huge war-profits for friends, allies and campaign contributors, like Halliburton, Blackwater, and U.S. arms manufacturers. Let Cheney still brazenly drawing income from Halliburton. Stop Congress from passing a law against war profiteering--ALL DONE.

· Establish permanent bases [to protect it all]--DONE.

Bush thinks he's won the damned war on the ground in Iraq. Who's counting bodies? What he's lost is the public relations war--a mere nuisance. [And with the "Surge" he's even winning that back.] It cost him Congress in 2006. But did that matter? Judging by how feeble the Democrats have been? Why have they been so weak? Take your pick: They are bought; they lack courage; they are trying to keep their jobs; the administration has ways of keeping tabs on them.

* * *

Okay here is my take...for years most liberals talk about what an idiot George Bush is yet they attribute so many intricate diabolical schemes to him that one must conclude the man to be a genius along the lines of Machavelli.
Whats your take?

The high cost of college

OK the colleges have got our #. First you get charged an application fee of 50.00 to 75.00. I can understand that because high school seniors want to apply to as many colleges as possible. I find this ridiculous. My next daughter up to bat will have maybe 2 choices. Then the three ring circus starts. THe fafsa. Urgh. Then you get your aid package. If you are an average family forget about it. You get pretty much nothing. Then when you go to reject the School Insurance they will not allow it if you do not have Insurance that meets their criteria. The only insurance we have been able to afford and believe me it is very expensive has a 10,000 out of pocket limit and this Cali school finds that unacceptable. They want it to be less than 5,000. What do they care how much I have to pay out of pocket????? This gets my blood to boiling! I am going to need a visit to the Dr. when this is all over. It is one big game and I am no good at games. Any suggestions available out there. We have filled out tons of scholarships, she was her class valedictorian, you get small awards for this accomplishment but not near as much as if she would have had a baby during her high school years or been sent to juvie. I must hold on to the promise the Lord makes that all things will work together for the good of those who love him and follow his commands. I guess this is the price I pay for not saving enough money throughout the years.

Have you heard this?

So I read this article link from the Drudge report, here is the opening;

Tablet ignites debate on messiah and resurrection
By Ethan Bronner Published: July 5, 2008

JERUSALEM: A three-foot-tall tablet with 87 lines of Hebrew that scholars believe dates from the decades just before the birth of Jesus is causing a quiet stir in biblical and archaeological circles, especially because it may speak of a messiah who will rise from the dead after three days.

If such a messianic description really is there, it will contribute to a developing re-evaluation of both popular and scholarly views of Jesus, since it suggests that the story of his death and resurrection was not unique but part of a recognized Jewish tradition at the time."

I am agog at the premise this article asserts, the premise that this stone would ruin our Christian beliefs. What???? As Christians we call that Prophesy and our belief is totally based on the Jewish belief. The New Testament is just the Old Testament revealed. I mean when people say they can only shake their head when they come across something so astonishing...that is how I feel right now. This find causes no re-evaluation of our beliefs it is not a faith shaker. It is a faith builder. People...the whole Christian faith is based in the Old Testament(Jewish). Christ fulfilled the all the things that the Old Testament prophets wrote of. That is why the apostle Paul who was a Pharisee of Pharisee (a Jewish man circumcised on the 8th day learned (in fact Pharisees had to memorize) the Scripture (Old Testament remember the New was not written yet.) was so bowled over when he came to know Christ because he realized everything he had spent learning his whole life as a Pharisee had been manifested in Jesus Christ. Yes the death and resurrection were manifested in Jewish tradition along with how he would be crucified. His clothing were cast lots for, his virgin birth, his healing of the sick, His birth city, The day He would come into Jerusalem (palm Sunday), His being sold for 30 pieces of silver, His title The Lamb of God.
Whoever wrote this article I would guess has never had a conversation with a true Christian. Otherwise his title would have been something like, TABLET CONFIRMS CHRISTIAN FAITH!!!!!! Am I missing something here? *Shakes head*

Miss Monroe

Why have we (the USA) been fixated on Marilyn Monroe for the last 50 years?
I was thinking maybe in a sense she represents these United States. Example;
She is so beautiful but had great tragedy in her past. We(USA) are beautiful too but we can not ignore some of our tragic past. The tragedy that comes to mind for me is slavery. I realize that I have no control over what our forefathers did 200 years ago yet... well, maybe we are starting to deal with that now.
Also Marilyn mixes innocence and sexiness at the same time. For those of us baby boomers that is what the 50s early 60s were like. Yet that does not explain why the younger generations are fascinated with her.
Who else is like her?
I can think of no one.
Do not get me wrong... I am a straight middle aged woman. But I like everyone else feels an attachment to the deceased Marilyn. It feels as if she was part of my group of friends the one I would of killed to look like.
Money did not cure her broken heart nor did fame or total adoration from millions of men ; drugs did not cure her , her salvation was not found in her great beauty.
So if she represents the USA... that means we need to completely turn to the only one that can truly bring joy into our lives and heal our broken hearts... Jesus Christ. Lest like the beautiful tragic Marilyn we may commit national suicide.

what about????

What about Integrity?
do not see much of it anymore but I know it is out there?

What about taxes?
We are taxed way too much in America, if I am not mistaken one reason why the brits moved here was to get away from heavy taxes.

What about Obama and Hilary?
I think if you are a democrat you will be happy with either. I am not!

What about the cost of rice in China?
Used to not matter but know it does.

What about Christianity?
Best thing that ever happened to me.
Powerful when lived properly. (lifesaving,to believer, even if not lived properly)

What about the church?
It is the body of Christ but the members often live in fear. Needs to be more active in community if we took our roll seriously what about #1,2,amd 3 would definitely be solved.

we do live in opposite world

A story is told about the loyalty of Napoleons army to their leader. It goes something like this;
Napoleon was talking to someone regarding his armies loyalty. He called a soldier to the front and asked him to kill himself and to show his loyalty to Napoleon he killed himself. The person watching was understandingly amazed and Napoleons army was to be feared.
Now this makes me think of my King Jesus. He knows me, he knows I would never have the cuts to kill myself and even if it did it would not solve the fact that I am a sinner and because of that could never enter into the eternal presence of God so to show His love for me , He stepped out of Heaven into our realm and gave himself for us. You know this is the work of God because men do not think like this. Gods response to our problems are so great,merciful and lofty they are beyond our human minds.
Like the song...Amazing love how could it be that you my King would die for me.
I praise the Lord that His ways are not our ways.
