New memories

and I am glad for it. I remember Peoria, Illinois. I remember it as it was 45 years ago(I am 51 but the first years are sketch)and I now have good memories from just days ago. I just got back from a two week vacation spent roaming the turf of my youth. That was great but what was really great is the siblings of my middle age. My. they have grown into fine adults. Warm,funny,kind and generous; continuing to be encouraged by the parents that guided us as kids and applaud us as adults, still smoothing out our rough spots.

Without life

I was hoping to get my Christmas flower bouquet, that was so beautiful, to last a bit longer. I threw out some of the worst looking flowers and tried my best to make the rest look pretty but to no avail. No matter how I fluffed and arranged they still looked bad. Finally I realized no matter how hard I try to make them look pretty they won't, they can't... they are dead. That is my life/works without Christ.
It is my take that, that is what the filthy rag reference is about. The menstrual rags were a result of no life in the blood. So our works without Christ are like filthy rags, proof of no life. The only blood that gives life is Christ. The only works we can do that lead to life are in Christ. Christ is all about life and to the fullest.

How can one expect any sort of harvest without planting ?

I have heard it said

that the safest place to be is in the will of the Lord but, I just read somewhere that although that is the BEST place to be it may not be the safest. Consider any of the Apostles and Christ himself; they were certainly in the Fathers will but far from safe. So I reconsider that saying that used to bring me such comfort and go forward knowing that Gods will is not always the safest route but it is the BEST.

This is how I felt when I first heard the true word of God.
The Word burned within me even though I did not fully understand it.
